What is Asian Broadcasting Network
Asian Broadcasting Network is a non-profit Organization serving the community since 1997 with a cause to provide an alternate forum of expression for the ever growing South Asian community in the Chicago and at the same time educate our listeners on various topics of interest. Just recently, we have made a big stride and our Radio can listen on the internet worldwide. Our listeners are predominantly belonging to the South Asian community and majority of listeners are from United States and there is also a sizable audience from across the world.
Mission Statement
* The mission of Asian Broadcasting Network is to perform community service among the South Asian community by providing quality radio programming.
* Provide a platform of expression for the South Asian community where their socio-economic and political issues are raised and their solutions discussed.
* Inculcate political awareness among the community so that the community can play its due role in the mainstream politics.
* Educate listeners by providing objective news, analysis and discussion of domestic, regional and international importance.

Brief History and Background
Dr. Mujahid Ghazi and his wife have been involved with the Radio Pakistan since 1968. He started his broadcasting career from Radio Pakistan’s “School Broadcasting Network” which was designed to provide a forum for talented children who have interest in broadcasting. He continued his stint at Radio Pakistan along with his professional studies in medicine and involved with Radio Pakistan in various capacities. He presented shows on health and medicine in Urdu and was an active participant along with his wife of the Youth Magazine which was one of the most popular radio shows that produced great debaters, compere, artists. He remained part of the team till 1982.
While migrating to US , Dr.Ghazi found that there is not a single TV program running for the South Asian Community in the Chicagoland area that addresses their issues and concerns. With than in mind, he started his TV show in 1994 that ran on six local cable companies. The show was called “Jeevay Pakistan”. The program covered local community events, quiz shows, poetry recitals. The show also interviewed prominent personalities who had an impact on the South Asian communities. The show was an instant hit and ran non-stop till 2000. At the same time in 1997, Dr. Ghazi, started Urdu Talk Radio show keeping in view of the interests for talk radio among the community and also due to the fact that the concept of talk radio always have a special connection with the listeners due to its spontaneity and also due to the fact that listeners have the ability to share their views, likes and dislikes openly on various topics of interest. Therefore at one point they had shows both on radio and TV. Moving on, they continued their focus on Talk Radio and now
ABN has over 10 years of broadcasting experience. Urdu Talk Radio has the unique distinction on being the first one of its kind in North America that started in 1997. Of late, the team has some fresh blood now, with the young professionals from various fields who have a flare for broadcasting. The list contains, IT Professionals, Civil Engineers, Technical writers and Finance Professional who is working hard apart from their professional responsibilities to make it is success.
